In the holiday spirit of giving, the Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation has announced that anglers can print a 'Fish Trip IOU' at AnglersLegacy.org when they take the Pledge to take someone new fishing.
"What better gift to give this season than sharing your time out on the water with family and friends," said RBFF President and CEO Frank Peterson. "As a thank you to those who take the Anglers' Legacy Pledge and become Ambassadors, the 'Fish Trip IOU' will help you get your friends and family involved in the sport you love. By taking someone new fishing, you are also giving back to the industry and resource."
An online survey conducted by RBFF of more than 7,500 Ambassadors revealed that the Anglers' Legacy program is having a positive impact on the boating and fishing industries and on states. This research revealed that each Ambassador takes not just one person fishing, but more than four a year and also generates an initial $120 in fishing tackle and equipment sales, $166 in boating supplies and accessories and purchases 3.2 fishing licenses.
Anglers' Legacy was launched in May 2006 targeting the country's estimated 7.5 million avid anglers. Through media coverage, industry partners, and pro-staff and celebrity angler involvement, Anglers' Legacy asks avid anglers to share their passion for fishing and promise to take one new person fishing each year. More than 20,000 anglers nationwide have already signed on.
